Depressed Mood and Career Anchors in Russian Medical Students

Introduction. People in helping professions are more prone to emotional burnout and depression. Even at the university level, future physicians experience an increase depressed mood. Despite fact that this problem has been studied quite extensively, role of socio-cognitive factors not yet enough. The purpose research is fill gap explore relationship between career anchors level mood among Russian medical students. Materials Methods. survey was conducted 2020 2021. sample included 864 students SSMU named after V. I. Razumovsky. Methods used survey: Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), adapted by T. Balashova diagnosis anchors, using Schein’s Career Orientations Inventory (COI) adaptation A. Chiker. Data analysis methods: Shapiro‒Wilk Fligner‒Killeen tests, Wilcoxon‒Mann‒Whitney Nemenyi biweightmidcorrelation analysis. search for predictors carried out method generalized additive models. Results. Service orientation professional competence reduce severity mood, while non-linear. desire integrate different areas their lives organize activities other people negatively associated with but linear. exacerbated anchoring on autonomy.
